About us
Our team and our mission
Our team members are seasoned professionals in different creative fields, who got tired of waiting for a platform like Goodstock to come up – and decided to build it themselves.
The founders of Goodstock have years of experience working in different parts of the Finnish creative field. Our core team consists of an environmental planner, a production designer, a film producer and a theater stage manager. We have worked for acclaimed production houses, awarded film projects, prestigious culture organizations and for Finland’s biggest festivals and events.
Witnessing the problem
Over the years we have witnessed first hand how, even though there is a lot of will to make a project more sustainable, the life cycle of materials is way too often way too short.
First, productions spend a lot of time, money and effort to acquire great amounts of materials for set decoration, props and costumes. After the production is over, it’s usually a difficult and time-consuming effort to figure out where to relocate all the used elements and materials. The goods.
And pretty often the effort is unsuccessful, and much of these goods end up being thrown away.
At the same time, someone else is looking for similar items for their upcoming projects and end up having to buy things brand new. Later on, they will face the exact same challenges of finding a place for the used items.
We’re not mathematicians, but this is an equation even we understand does not make sense.
What our industry needs is a way to connect our supplies with our demands, help each other out to a mutual benefit and – most importantly – prolong the life cycle of products and materials. For at least one more cycle, and in the best case scenario, several.
Building the solution
The Goodstock website opened in 2024.
Ever since we have been in the midst of developing its usability: trying to make it easier for productions and professionals to recycle items and materials, share resources and also to help out others across the different creative fields.
Though we are only in the beginning, using our services many artifacts have already found a new life in new productions. Some have even been saved literally from their way to the dumpster. Set elements from an opera production have ended up in restaurant decoration and materials from a music festival have found a new home in a toy store.
Especially these kinds of examples of outside-the-box scenarios are evidence enough, manifestation if you will, that something like Goodstock is indeed needed.
This is why we encourage everyone, no matter what field you represent or how established you are, to team up with us. Only together can we start molding the practices of our fields to be more practical, more affordable and more sustainable.
So, sign up and share the goods!
Share the magic!
Yours, The Goodstock team Kari, Sanna, Jyri, Panu
